Our recruiters are often asked, “What’s the best way to stand out in an interview?”

If you’re looking to stand out, weave details about how you embrace our core values, Curiosity, Pride, Adventure and Winning, throughout your responses. These values guide our hiring decisions, our business decisions, and how we celebrate wins everyday. Regardless of the role you are interviewing for, here is your guide to standing out.

Curiosity

We are inquisitive, not afraid to challenge assumptions and hungry to learn every day.

A common trait amongst many successful people is having the drive to continuously learn. They are not just curious about the business but curious about life. We instill being a lifelong learner through remaining curious and not being afraid to ask questions.

  • How to show it in your responses: Share examples of how you took an established process and challenged it to provide a better solution. We love hearing how you develop your skills and grow outside of your comfort zone.

  • Questions to ask us:

    • What is the biggest roadblock your team is currently trying to solve?

    • How does the team manifest curiosity in their day-to-day work?

    • What is an industry trend or technological shift that your team is currently most curious about or keeping a close eye on?

Pride

We are driven to do our personal best in everything we do and expect the same from our teammates.

Our team members treat the business like its our own, taking immense pride in the quality of what we deliver together. Because our work impacts millions, we hold ourselves and our team members to high standards.

  • How to show it in your responses: When speaking on past achievements, own your impact. We want to see the passion behind something you’ve built, fixed, or improved. True pride also extends to celebrating the collective lift. We look for candidates who value collaboration and celebrate the collective lift of their previous teams.

  • Questions to ask us:

    • How does the team hold each other accountable to high standards?

    • What is a recent project this team delivered that everyone was incredibly proud of, and why?

    • Can you tell me about a time a teammate went above and beyond to help the rest of the team cross a finish line? How did that impact the team culture?

Adventure

We are comfortable and thrive in an environment where our path is often unclear, changes frequently and requires us to challenge ourselves.

To thrive here, you have to be resilient in the face of ambiguity, step outside our comfort zone and view challenges as experiments.

  • How to show it in your responses: Share an experience where a project didn’t go as planned. How did you pivot? We want to see how you navigate working in a fast-paced environment where the destination might be clear but the path is yours to create.

  • Questions to ask us:

    • Can you give me an example of a time a project's direction changed completely, and how the team pivoted?

    • What was the most adventurous project you tackled here recently?

    • For someone stepping into this role, what is the most unmapped or undefined challenge they will need to tackle in their first 90 days?

Winning

We have the drive, work ethic and discipline to always put EchoStar in a position to win.

Many people love the idea of winning. We look for candidates who have the grit, work ethic and discipline to do what it takes to help us win. Having a winning mindset is seen through driving results, delivering exceptional value and cross-functional collaboration. We win together.

  • How to show it in your responses: Focus on results and data. Use metrics where you can to show how you made a measurable difference and highlight how you’ve helped others win previously.

  • Questions to ask us:

    • Can you share a recent example of a time the team faced a major setback but refused to lose? How did you turn it around into a win?

    • What separates the people who thrive in this environment from those who struggle?

    • What cross-functional partnerships are most critical for the person in this role to help EchoStar win?
