Our Hiring Process
At the core of our organization is a belief that our people are our greatest asset. Our hiring strategy reflects this philosophy by focusing on fairness and the value each candidate can bring to the team.
Our recruitment process is centered around authenticity. We provide clear expectations, timely updates and open interactions to build trust and connect you to a meaningful career.
Application
It all starts with you. We understand that you invest your time and energy into each application you submit. Your application provides us insight into your skills and experience that help us understand what you can bring to the role. Depending on the career area you are applying to, there may be questionnaires required to complete your application. For our Frontline roles, these questionnaires are meant to provide you with a realistic preview of the role you are applying for, helping you understand upfront what you can expect if hired into the role and giving you context to include in the next step of the process—your interview. For our corporate roles, these questionnaires provide you with another opportunity to demonstrate your skills.
Interviews
Let’s get to know each other. Interviews can be scary, but we want to help you ace yours. That’s why we’ve put together a collection of stories from our team members to give you more background, insight and a behind the scenes look into a career at EchoStar. Check out our candidate advice articles and use them to get prepared for your interviews. These stories also provide tips and advice to help you with the application process from resume recommendations to interview tips. Depending on the role you are interviewing for, our process could include interviews with the hiring manager or a panel of team members. This is your chance to get to know the people you could be working with, so bring your energy and ask the questions that matter to you.
Questionnaires
As part of our hiring process, you may be asked to complete questionnaires. These questionnaires help us better understand the impact you might have on the EchoStar culture. Your recruiter will provide more information on which specific questionnaires are required for the role you applied for, and they will also provide you tips to ensure a smooth experience. For more tips, check out our candidate advice articles where our own team members provide their insight into working at EchoStar and advice to help you through the recruitment process.
Offer
We think it is a match. If you are selected to join the team, we will extend an offer after you have completed the process. In the offer letter, we will outline your compensation, benefits and start date. We will offer you our most competitive offer the first time, so that you do not have to worry about negotiating. We want the entire process to be as seamless as possible for you. Offers are also contingent on successful completion of a background check.
Onboarding
Welcome to the team! Once you accept the offer, our team will reach out with onboarding details. This will include everything from what to wear your first day to where to meet for your orientation. Your onboarding information session will take place within your first week of employment at EchoStar, and we will ensure you are set up for success in your new role. Your onboarding session will include other new hires that will learn alongside you and provide support as you begin your career at EchoStar.
No matter which role you apply to at EchoStar, you will encounter competency-based behavioral interviewing techniques during the process. These questions are based on the competencies required to be successful in the role, and designed to have you highlight specific examples from your past work experience to show the impact you made throughout your career. Here is a quick outline of the STAR method, a standard interview response structure to help you answer these type of questions:
Set the Context
Start by helping the interviewer understand the background of your specific work example. You can include information such as who you were working with, what the project encompassed, where this all took place and why this example is relevant.
Outline Your Role
Explain your responsibilities in the situation you described. Whether you were managing the project, a stakeholder or working on an independent initiative, tell us how you were involved.
Tell Us What You Did to Make an Impact
Describe the steps you took to address the task and reach a solution. If you created a new process, went out of your way to support a customer or took initiative to learn a new skill, we want to hear about it.
Discuss the Outcome
Wrap up your response with the impact of your action. By concluding with a summary of the outcome of your experience, you provide a tangible example of the potential results you can drive on our team.
We are invested in your success and want to help you achieve your goals. You have invaluable potential and we want to give you the opportunity to realize it. Check out the curated tips we highlight below to help you get ready for everything from updating your resume to interviewing.
We want to clearly define EchoStar's expectations regarding the use of AI by candidates during the hiring process, emphasizing authenticity, ethical AI practices and fairness.
We want to make sure we are setting you and our teams up for success. Sometimes that means that even though you have valuable skills and align with our culture, we choose to move forward with another candidate. We do not want that to be the end of your career exploration at EchoStar though; there are multiple ways to continue your job search with us, including signing up for our talent communities, applying for another role with us and following us on social media.
