AI Upskilling

Aligned to our aspiration to become a digital first company, we are prioritizing AI-fluency upskilling to prepare our interns to lead and innovate within an AI-integrated workforce. Interns have access to a variety of AI-powered tools and methodologies that accelerate their career here faster than anywhere else. All team members are trained to use AI safely and ethically without exposing sensitive data.

“This internship has been a crash course in AI. I have learned more about AI and its applications in these 10 weeks than in my entire college career.”

— Joey Culig, focused on enhancing the Boost Mobile app experience.

“By predicting when and why a customer might face friction, we can step in with proactive support before they experience any frustration.”

— Sanjh Mahatme, developing a machine learning model that analyzes customer language, sentiment and behavior.

“The push for AI integration has led me to consider alternatives and solutions that I wouldn't have otherwise pursued, and will be immensely helpful in building efficiency into my project.”

— Ryan Plappert, using customer leads and sales flows to optimize efficiency, transparency and AI integrations.

Direct Management Mentorship

From day one, interns own impactful projects giving them room to build technical confidence, grow outside of their comfort zone and see how teams work together. Our interns receive direct access to senior leaders, offering invaluable mentorship, career advice and insight into the company’s strategic vision.

“My manager and team have been extremely supportive, providing guidance, mentorship and opportunities to take ownership of meaningful projects. My involvement in real-world challenges has helped me build confidence in my technical abilities and gain a deeper understanding of the industry.”

— Marien Broxton, focused on network deployment, device integration and performance testing.

“Beyond my team being world-class subject matter experts at the cutting edge of their fields, they excel at meeting me where I am, taking the time to break down complex systems and emerging technologies. They’ve truly invested in my holistic growth, providing tailored study recommendations, introducing me to cross-functional partners and even sharing the best local spots to explore in Colorado. I’ve felt incredibly supported both professionally and personally.”

— Riti Singh, developing an AI model for Boost Mobile to streamline device testing plans and generate new test protocols for next-generation devices.

Tying In Our Values

Our values, Curiosity, Pride, Adventure, and Winning, guide our business decisions and how we celebrate wins every day. During orientation, our interns jumped into a pitch challenge to champion their favorite value. They carried that energy into a later session with CEO Charlie Ergen, referencing their own pitches to ask him what he views as the most important value. Here are the interns key takeaways from their pitch challenge:

  • Interns view curiosity as a driver to ask questions, explore new technologies, challenge existing processes and engage with stakeholders to solve problems.
  • These future leaders deliver their personal best and take pride in everything they do while holding their peers to that same standard, creating a culture of excellence.
  • The interns see their experience as a thrilling adventure. They are collaborating with new teams and gaining an understanding of EchoStar’s operations, inspiring them to excel in their individual roles.
  • Championed by a powerful work ethic, winning gives interns the discipline to achieve their goals, bring their utmost effort to every task and help position the company for success.

EchoStar is a place where questions are celebrated. We’ve built a culture where curiosity, pride, adventure, and winning are encouraged and team members care for one another, ensuring everyone feels supported.
